What is River Region Medical Alliance (RRMA)? We represent the family of medicine.
Our mission is to support the family of medicine and partner with physicians to promote good health in the community.
We are physician spouses who care about building healthy communities.
In the last couple years, our medical alliance funded more than 10 E.A.T. South garden projects in a local elementary school to improve the health of our community in addition to educating teachers in incorporating gardens throughout their curriculum.
Our volunteers devote countless hours to awareness projects such as childhood obesity, health promotion in the community and in the medical family, as well as breast cancer awareness.
We are physician spouses who care about our members.
Our membership reflects all stages of medical life. From residency, early and ongoing career years, and throughout retirement, we are here to encourage and support you.
Our programs offer a variety of opportunities for personal growth as well as having fun by bringing in experts to discuss financial planning, gardening, gourmet cooking, fashion, travel, interior design, children, medical marriage, and more.
We are physician spouses who care about your involvement.
You may become as involved as you wish. Whether you choose to be an active member who attends programs or have joined so you can demonstrate your support, your membership makes a positive difference in the health of Montgomery and surrounding county areas.
Numbers count. The family of medicine needs you!
RRMA is open to any physician’s spouse in the River Region (Montgomery, Autauga, Elmore, Macon & Lowndes Counties). Belong to the family of medicine. You are what make us unique.
Enrich your life, Grow with your Alliance, Make a difference in your community.

Presidential Pause...
Dear Members of the Family of Medicine, The River Region Medical Alliance (RRMA) invites you to be a part of your local family of medicine by joining us! RRMA is open to any physician’s spouse in the River Region - Montgomery, Autauga, Elmore, Macon, and Lowndes counties. We are busy planning an exciting year with activities for you and your family. If you have already become an active member, thank you! If you are new, we are excited to meet you! If you have let your membership lapse, we miss you and want you back! As physician’s spouses, we are a diverse group with a wide range of interests, backgrounds, and ideas. We reflect all stages of medical life, from residency to retirement. But we have one very important thing in common: we each love and support a physician. With the current uncertainty about the future of medicine, coming together as a medical community seems more important than ever. RRMA is here to support you and your medical family! We have a few activities planned already, with the Back to the Biscuits get-together on Friday, August 11th, a tour and lunch at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts on September 14th, and a Fall Family Day at the Farm on October 14th with pumpkin painting! Neighborhood lunches were a big hit last year, so watch for them to return in the fall and spring. Please follow our Facebook page for an additional source of updated information about upcoming events. You may have received our membership application in the mail, and I encourage you to complete it and send it in, even if you choose to pay online. The membership application has a section for you to share your interests and there’s a short survey on the back. Some of our “fun clubs” are already operating with a few more planned for this year. The application also lists “optional” dues and donations. We are making membership in the state and national medical alliances optional, but we encourage you to join! Our state alliance, AMASA, represents the medical family at the state level and several of our local members are officers with AMASA. The AMA Alliance represents the family of medicine at the national level. Your donation to the Medical Student Scholarship Fund is greatly appreciated and will have your name listed as a donor on the annual holiday card. We need you! Please join or continue your support of RRMA today! Whether you choose to be an active member who attends meetings or you join just to demonstrate your support, your membership makes a positive difference. I’m looking forward to seeing you soon! With warm regards, Carolyn M. Strickland 2017-2018 RRMA President |
